It is estimated that only 3 out ten farmers can read and write. In this context, videos are seen as a key to unlocking the flow of knowledge that can be brought to farmers. But the content is only a part of the solution. Currently two companies in Cambodia (Singtech and MTab) are offering cheap tablets (prices ranging from 70 to 100 usd) - and farmers are buying into the new technology. The multimedia component of the TSSD is being implemented by Action IEC - and the NGO has brought in a heavy dose of creative thinking into this series of ten videos. Action IEC has produced an instructional video template that applies to each of the ten videos but that may also be used by other partners working to support the work of the Department of Agricultural Extension at the Ministry of Agriculture. By coordinating these productions with other key stakeholders in the agricultural sector, Action IEC hopes to improve the branding of materials that reaches farmers.
