TOSFUND is a crowd sourced initiative aiming to bring crowd-funding to Cambodians.
The project started in 2014 and the concept developed with the partnetship of development and media actors (ActionIEC), film and art producers (Cometogether) and leading Cambodian Developers from Alien Dev and other lead IT technicians.
The initiative was facilitated by a Grant from USAID, the support of mobile operator Cellcard, Wing for offline donations and last but not least, ACLEDA with its brand new international payment gateway system that allows TOSFUND to uniquely facilitate donations from inside and outside the country.
Crowd-funding - the act of collecting funds from a large number of people - is totally new in Cambodia. Some local entrepreneurs have already successfully raised funds for films and development projects but solely with foreign support. Now Cambodians have a platform where they can propose their own ideas to the Cambodian public.
